Elsie, welcome to the 21st century

Does this disturb anyone else?

Argentine cow clones to produce insulin in milk

I wonder if they'll engineer the cartons to run to open the fridge and run to you...

I like the picture too - it's that scientists are engineering genes to clone and then taking the clones and engineering their mammary glands to produce insulin in their milk. Perhaps it would only be slightly strange if they were just skipping the step and producing insulin with the original cows, but they're cloning them first and that's just way Gattaca or something.

human insulin, no less.

i think they have to genetically alter the cows in order to get them to produce milk that includes human insulin.

personally, i want them to engineer cows that produce chocolate milk. i mean, if we're gonna go all gattaca, can we at least do it for a really fun reason?

on a more serious note, what happens in 10 years when they discover that the genetically engineered insulin milk causes cancer, or some terrible birth defect?
