Does this disturb anyone else?

I wonder if they'll engineer the cartons to run to open the fridge and run to you...

National TV Turn-off Week

We unplugged our cable from the back of the TV last night in order to make it a little more difficult to just sit in front of it for hours every evening. We realized that many areas of our life were suffering because we were watching so much TV. And not even stuff we were that interested in. It just seems like once it is on it stays on. Being grumpy with your kids b/c you didn't get enough sleep b/c you stayed up til midnight watching "101 more things removed from the human body" or "The 160 lb. tumor" on TLC is not a good thing. Nothing wrong with the shows but know when to turn it off already, ya know? Haven't picked up a book in weeks, Bible in weeks, blogged in weeks, etc.
Found out today that, guess what? it's National TV Turn-off Week. Go us. We were one step ahead of the game or at least in step and didn't even know it. It's crazy that when you are watching and watching it seems so important not to miss that show, but when you finally manage to hit the power button suddenly it isn't so important anymore. Evening programming falls at such a bad time anyways, esp. since it is later in the day before the sun goes down. Now shows we would want to watch take place during dinner and Daddy's time with the kids. Bathtime and Bedtime happen during commercials. That will really make you feel guilty. So for now, we are trying life without much TV.
Tonight while the TV didn't reign Daddy and Peanut made Dinosaur Droppings. (very healthy nut/date mixture balls with 2yr. old-boy-enticing-name) There is a website all about this novel idea of turning off the TV that I found. I was surprised that it wasn't affiliated with Focus on the Family or something like that. Nope, it's just a grassroots organization trying to "save lives by getting people to turn off the TV and turn on life." Anyway, I'm going to go eat some dinner now...That's all folks!
